Joseph Armitage (1880 - 1945)

A Joseph Armitage is mentioned in The New Age as a maker of furniture NA 12.13:305. We have located a bit of information about a Joseph Armitage who archieved some reputation as a sculptor of reliefs in a modern style in the decades after World War I. We do not know whether these are the same person, though we think it may be possible. The sculptor worked on the Tyne Cot war memorial and did a series of sixteen reliefs of working men for the Walthamstow Town Hall in the thirties.
